Round 12: Derby game ends with Peja's defeat of Prizreni-16

The most interesting game of round 12 was a derby match between two teams from Kosovo. Second ranked Peja won against host Prizreni-16 (7-5) 84-72. It was a good game for Albanian forward Daniel Lekndreaj (192-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Arian Callakaj (195-1992) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American Darrell Davis (196-1996, college: Dayton) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for Prizreni-16. Peja have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-3 record behind leader Ylli. Prizreni-16 at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Peja are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Vllaznia (#8) in Shkodra in the next round where they are favorite. Prizreni-16 will play on the road against Teuta (#4) in Durres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Teuta. Worth to mention a great performance of center Endrit Hysenagolli (208-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Julian Hamati who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Tirana's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Tamas Bruce (202-1995, college: Arkansas St.) with 22 points. Tirana maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Defending Albanian champion Teuta keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Tirana will play against league's leader Ylli in Therande in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Teuta will play at home against Prizreni-16 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Liga Unike top team - Kosovan Ylli (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Albanian Kamza (2-10) in Tirana 89-56. The winners were led by Erjon Kastrati who scored that evening 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Eric Williams did not help to save the game for Kamza. Ylli have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending Kosovan champion maintains first position with 10-1 record. Kamza lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Vllaznia. Ylli will meet at home Tirana (#5) in the next round. Kamza will play against Rahoveci and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 12 Vllaznia was smashed by Rahoveci on the road 97-73.



Rahoveci - Vllaznia 97-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Kosovan Rahoveci's (5-7) home victory over bottom-ranked Albanian Vllaznia (2-10) 97-73 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Vllaznia 57-31 including a 46-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rahoveci looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by South Sudanese power forward Makol Mawien (206-1996, college: Kansas St., agency: BIG) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and power forward Fisnik Rugova (207-1989) supported him with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Four Rahoveci players scored in double figures. Even 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks by Redi Rakaj (202-1997) did not help to save the game for Vllaznia. American guard Avi Toomer (190-1997, college: Bucknell) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rahoveci maintains sixth position with 5-7 record. Vllaznia lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. They share the position with Kamza. Rahoveci will meet Kamza (#7) in the next round. Vllaznia will play against the league's second-placed Peja and hope to secure a win.

Ylli dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kamza's 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by Albanian-Kosovan swingman Erjon Kastrati (197-1994) who scored that evening 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and Croatian forward Henrik Sirko (199-1993) supported him with 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Ylli players scored in double figures. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Eric Williams (196-1995, college: Greenville) did not help to save the game for Kamza.
