LBBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Sparta lose to Etzella

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Sparta (11-2). They were defeated by second ranked Etzella (11-2) 69-61 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Etzella dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Sparta's 18. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Nick Davis (206-2001, college: Omaha) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Adrian Delph (191-2000, college: App State) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Jarvis Williams (198-1989, college: MSU, agency: BIG) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Etzella have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Sparta. Sparta will play next round against Mamer trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Etzella will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked AB Contern on the road.
Very significant was Esch's (#5) 37-point road victory against 7th ranked T71 82-45. The former international power forward Clancy Rugg (204-1991, college: Vermont) nailed 22 points and 4 steals for the winning side and Quinn Nelson accounted for 21 points. Power forward Nick Davis (206-2001, college: Omaha) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds for T71 in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Esch (8-5) moved-up to fourth place. T71 at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Esch will play against higher ranked Arantia (#3) in Larochette in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. T71 will play on the road against Kordall S. (#9) in Rodange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Luxembourg between Racing and Kordall S.. Tenth ranked Racing (4-9) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Kordall S. (4-9). Racing managed to escape with a 2-point win 107-105 in the fight for the eighth place. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Antonio Bivins fired 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. Racing's coach Adam Radomirovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Erik Timko produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Racing moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mamer and Kordall S. Racing will meet higher ranked Residence (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kordall S. will play against T71 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 13 bottom-ranked AB Contern was destroyed by Arantia on the opponent's court 120-87. Musel Pikes unfortunately lost to Mamer in a home game 84-86.

Arantia - AB Contern 120-87

Very expected game in Larochette where 12th ranked AB Contern (1-12) was crushed by third ranked Arantia (10-3) 120-87 on Sunday. Arantia outrebounded AB Contern 46-35 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Power forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-1995, college: Stony Brook) fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Kevon Godwin (188-2000, college: Angelo St.) chipped in 25 points and 4 steals. Arantia's coach Karolis Abramavicius felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Josh Ferguson (203-1996, college: Winthrop) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and guard Drew Lowder (185, college: CSU, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) added 29 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Five Arantia and four AB Contern players scored in double figures. Arantia maintains third place with 10-3 record behind leader Etzella. AB Contern lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Arantia will meet Esch (#4) on the road in the next round. AB Contern will play against the league's leader Etzella (#1) and hope to win that game.

But Musel Pikes was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Mamer 86-84 on Wednesday night. Mamer outrebounded Musel Pikes 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Dom Sleva (198, college: Shippensburg) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Maid Adrovic chipped in 22 points.
