There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LBBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Leader Sparta delivered the eighteenth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Racing (5-16) 91-64 in Bertrange. The best player for the winners was American forward Victor Iwuakor (200-1999, college: Southern Miss) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Jarvis Williams (198-1989, college: MSU, agency: BIG) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Antonio Bivins (199-1992, college: UMass Lowell) who recorded 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sparta (18-3) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place, which they share with Arantia. Racing lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Musel Pikes. Sparta is looking forward to face T71 (#6) in Dudelange in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Racing will play at home against AB Contern (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Rodange was also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Residence (10-11) played at the court of eighth ranked Kordall S. (9-11). Kordall S. managed to secure a 7-point victory 93-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Residence. It was a good game for Lithuanian forward Robertas Jonaitis (196-2000, college: Cumberlands) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Erik Timko contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Clark Slajchert (185, college: USC) answered with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for Residence. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kordall S.. Newly promoted Kordall S. maintains eighth place with 9-11 record. Residence at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Kordall S. will play against Musel Pikes (#11) in Stadrbredimus in the next round. Residence will play on the road against Mamer (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Esch, where higher ranked Esch (12-9) lost at home to eleventh ranked Musel Pikes (5-16) 89-98 on Sunday. Jaylen Key stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Clancy Rugg with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Musel Pikes moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Racing. Esch lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Musel Pikes will meet at home higher ranked Kordall S. (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Esch will play against Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
