UASM are the Champions! - Jun 5, 2011 BCUASM Chisinau - Dondiusheni. Game 3. June 4. 89-74. What do you do when you are loosing in the final 0-2, when the final is played till 3 wins? How do you play when DE-facto the team you are playing against is stronger then your team? The only answer you get all your players to play as this is their last game ever. This is what Dondisheni did. First, all their players recovered and this was the most complete team Dondisheni could've get. And second there is nothing else to loose: you either win this game and stay in the final or you loose and this is over. To be or not to be - this is the question. It was the most difficult season game for BCUASM Chisinau. Even thought they were leading all game long, the handicap was an average not more then 5-6 points, which would always cause Alexandr Sestopal to ask for time-out. Very balanced game in which all leaders scored and played crucial role for their teams. In the middle of third quarter of the game Dondiusheni got on fire with 3-pointers which allowed them to equalize (59-59) the score for the second time in the game, after 0-0 in the very beginning. But probably it took a lot of strength and fouls, which caused Dondisheni head coach to make some substitutions on the field, including letting Andrus rest. All of this lead to 10 points difference by the end of 3rd quarter. 70-60. Andrus and Co tried to repeat their success in the last quarter and use 3-pointers to take the advantage, but snipers wouldn't put the ball into the basket as it was requested by the coach, which did not minimize the difference in the score. And as the old saying says: if you do not score your opponent will score himself. The time was running and the score difference was growing and growing. 3 minutes before the end it was clear BCUASM Chisinau will become double champion this year: Cup and Championship title winners. Time ended at 89-74. Right after the game inauguration ceremony started. Best forward of the season was voted Vladimir Kolesnikov (202-F/C-80) from BC FireBall, Bender. Best defensive played award is given to Eugeniu Melnic (196-F/G-79), BC UASM, Chisinau Best center - Ivan Cropotov (208-F-88, college: SW Baptist) (208-F-88, college: SW Baptist), BC UASM, Chisinau All season MVP went to ... Let the new season begin. Club Manager Shaved head and 2010 Moldova Cup Final. - Jan 16, 2011 ASEM - UASM, December 27, 2010. 2 best team this season, as it was predicted, reached Cup final. Both having 7-0 run after 7 games in Championship, both having National team players, both having famouse coaches, and both aiming for a double this year: Cup and Championship. UASM was fully ready for the fight: all are healthy and on the field. ASEM lost very important player, Vitalii Crasnoschioc, in the semi-final. The game started very equally, as it was expected. Ivan Cropotov (208-F-88, college: SW Baptist), Vladimir Priscepnii (200-F/G-88), Eugeniu Melnic (196-F/G-79) have been working hard in scoring for UASM, Evgheni Nartov (200-F-87) and Anton Rulevschii (194-G/F-88) were leading ASEM players in offence. First half of the game finished at 37-33 for UASM. All was decided in the third quarter that was failed by ASEM. UASM have been able to win it 25-11, and with a lead of 18 points (62-44) it was almost all decided, seeing that ASEM does not really have potential to force in the game. Final score 82-63, 19 points difference. Ivan Cropotov scored 30 points for UASM, Vladimir Priscepnii helped his team with Double-double 19 points and 17 rebounds!!!, Eugeniu Melnic 17 points. On the other hand another 2 national team players of ASEM scored 25 - Evgheni Nartov and 18 - Anton Rulevschii, and how much they where missing Crasnoschioc who was supposed to help them with rebounds. It is a first time BS UASM Chisinau wins Moldova Cup. Willing to win first Cup title UASM Club Manager anoused that he will shave his head if his players defeat ASEM. Man promised, man supposed to do it. The only thing is that Club Manager, Evghenii Draciov, was thinking of barber's shop when promising, but his team was thinking of 'after the game'. And they prepared for the execution, bringing shaving-set right in the gym. This is what I am saying proper communication means :) |
