Germany registered the second straight win at the start of their 2024 Paris Olympic Games campaign. Dennis Schroeder (185-PG-1993) scored 20 points and dished out 6 assists to pace Germany past Brazil in Group B. Germany silenced their opponents in the first period. They held Brazil to just 10 points to open a 12-point lead. But Brazil lived up to the challenge. The Latin American powerhouse responded with a 30-point outburst in the second frame to erase the deficit 40-40. But Germany were back in the driver’s seat in the third frame. The world champions used a 20-11 push to retake the lead. Germany poured in 26 points in the final frame and rallied to a comfortable win. Franz Wagner (208-F-2001, college: Michigan) provided 17 points for the winners. Yago Dos Santos (175-PG-1999) answered with 18 points for Brazil. Vitor Benite (194-SG-1990) had 17 points in the loss. |
