Unicaja have been crowned the Copa del Rey champions. They topped Tenerife in the title game tonight. Tyson Carter (193-G-1998, college: MSU) stepped up with 17 points to pace the Malaga team. He was named the MVP.
Unicaja eked out a 17-16 lead after ten minutes. Tenerife sank 23 points in the second stanza to secure a 39-37 halftime advantage. Unicaja erased the deficit in the third stanza. They tied things up at 60 heading into the fourth term. Unicaja surged ahead midway through the final period. They secured a 77-69 lead and protected it well throughout the rest of the game rallying to the victory. Tyler Kalinoski (193-SG-1992, college: Davidson) recorded 14 points for the Malaga side. Giorgi Shermadini (217-C-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 20 points for Tenerife. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-1983) topscored with 21 points in the loss.
