Anderson's buzzer-beating layup seals Valencia's fourth straight LF Endesa crown in Game 2 thriller-May 17, 2026
Yvonne Anderson (170-G-1990, college: Texas) drove through the heart of Casademont Zaragoza's defense and converted a contested layup as time expired to give Valencia Basket a 68-67 victory in Game 2 of the LF Endesa finals on Sunday, completing a 2-0 sweep and securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive Spanish women's league championship in front of 7,647 fans at the Roig Arena.
The game-winner capped one of the most dramatic finals in LF Endesa history a contest in which Valencia trailed for long stretches and appeared headed for a decisive Game 3 in Zaragoza until the final second.
Zaragoza seized early control. Mariona Ortiz (183-G-1992) and Merritt Hempe (190-F-1994, college: Georgia) drilled three-pointers in the opening minutes to establish a 0-6 lead and an emotional grip on proceedings that Valencia struggled to shake for three quarters. The Aragonese side led 22-18 after the first quarter and 36-33 at halftime, with Ornella Bankole (181-SF-1997) extending the advantage to 26-19 in the second period before triples from Awa Fam Thiam (192-C-2006) and Raquel Carrera (188-C-2001) kept Valencia alive.
The third quarter appeared to break the game open for Zaragoza. Ortiz orchestrated beautifully, and consecutive baskets from Nerea Hermosa (196-C-2001, college: Georgia Tech) stretched the lead to 41-51 with three minutes remaining in the period. But Leticia Romero (173-G-1995, college: FSU) refused to let the title slip away the Spanish international went on a personal scoring burst capped by a three-pointer that leveled the contest at 51-51 before Helena Pueyo (183-G-2001, college: Arizona)'s free throws restored Zaragoza's slim 53-51 edge heading into the fourth.
The final 10 minutes were pure chaos. Leonie Fiebich (193-F-2000)'s triple gave Valencia their first lead since the opening minutes at 61-60, but Ortiz answered immediately with a three of her own for 61-63. Fam responded from deep for 66-65 Valencia, only for Helena Oma (180-F-1996) to score twice in penetration to put Zaragoza back ahead 66-67 with 45 seconds left.
Then came the decisive possession. Nadia Fingall (191-F-1998, college: Stanford)'s interior pass sailed out of bounds, giving Valencia the ball with precious seconds remaining. Anderson took the inbound, drove left, split two defenders, and kissed the ball off the glass as the buzzer sounded. 68-67. Dynasty extended.
Anderson finished with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three rebounds and three assists. Romero matched her with 14 (6-of-10 FG) including three steals and the third-quarter rally that kept Valencia in the game. Fiebich added 12 points and four rebounds.
For Zaragoza, Ortiz was magnificent in defeat with 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists on 6-of-9 shooting including a perfect 4-of-4 from three. Oma had 12 points. But they will be haunted by the final possession that slipped through their fingers.

Valencia Basket Reclaim Copa de la Reina Crown with Stunning Second-Half Comeback-Mar 29, 2026
Tarragona delivered a Cup final for the ages on Sunday, and Valencia Basket made sure they were the ones celebrating. Trailing by 13 at halftime, coach Rubén Burgos's side produced a breathtaking second-half revival to defeat defending champions Hozono Global Jairis 70–65 and reclaim the Copa de la Reina title they had surrendered a year ago.
It looked bleak for Valencia at the break. Jairis had been the aggressor from the opening tip, with Aina Ayuso (175-G-1999, college: Oregon) and Alba Prieto (180-G-1999, college: S.Florida) combining for back-to-back triples to set the tone — Ayuso hitting from range and Prieto drilling in two of her own — while an 8–0 Jairis run late in the quarter stretched their advantage to 13. The halftime scoreboard read 35–24 in the Murcia-based side's favor, and a second consecutive title was very much in their sights.
What happened next was remarkable. Valencia came out of the locker room a completely different team, unleashing a devastating 13–0 run that flipped the scoreboard entirely. Within minutes, the lead had swung 13 points in the other direction, and Valencia were suddenly in the driving seat heading into the fourth quarter with an eight-point cushion.
Jairis, to their enormous credit, refused to go quietly. Aina Ayuso — one of the game's standout performers — pushed and pushed in the closing stages to give the holders hope, but Valencia's composure and finishing down the stretch proved too much. They closed it out 70–65 to complete one of the most dramatic Copa de la Reina final comebacks in recent memory.
Khaalia Hillsman (196-C-1996, college: Texas A&M) was named the game's MVP with 11 points, while Raquel Carrera (188-C-2001) led Valencia's scoring with 12 and Nia Coffey (185-F-1995, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) commanded the boards with 8 rebounds. For Jairis, Alba Prieto's 18 points were the highlight of a valiant losing effort, with Laura Gil (190-F/C-1992) hauling in 8 rebounds.
For Valencia Basket and head coach Ruben Burgos, it is a deeply satisfying title — reclaimed after watching Jairis take the crown from them in Zaragoza last season. For Jairis, the disappointment of losing back-to-back finals will sting, but their run to this final showed once again they belong among Spain's elite.
Zaragoza rally past Valencia for Supercopa title-Sep 28, 2025
Valencia - Zaragoza 68-79

Zaragoza bagged their first title of the new season as they overcame Valencia for the 2025 Supercopa trophy. Aminata Gueye (193-C-2002) scored 17 points, while Helena Pueyo (183-G-2001, college: Arizona) contributed 15 points in the victory.
Zaragoza jumped off to a 26-20 lead after the opening frame. Valencia slowed their opponents down in the second stanza to get within five points at halftime 38-43. Zaragoza though held their opponents to just 12 points in the third quarter to stretch the margin at 12-point mark. They controlled the tempo in the fourth period and rallied to the victory.
Hind Ben-Abdelkader (172-PG-1995, college: California) hauled in 14 points, while Tanaya Atkinson (183-G-1996, college: Temple) provided 13 points for Valencia.
