Lleida opened the game with a 14-0 run and never looked back en route to the LEB Oro playoff title. They outgunned Estudiantes to clinch Liga Endesa promotion. The game was mostly controlled by Lleida. Estudiantes managed to win third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lleida dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes' 20. Lleida had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lleida made 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Estudiantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. LEB Gold top team - Coruna (27-8) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Melilla (10-24) 80-74. Coruna outrebounded Melilla 41-27 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Melilla helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Cuban swingman Yunio Barrueta (196-1993, college: Barry, agency: BIG) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese center Atoumane Diagne (215-1998) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side forward Guillem Arcos (194-2000) responded with 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Coruna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 27-8 record. Melilla at the other side keeps the sixteenth place with 24 games lost.
The game in Alicante was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Burgos SP (26-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Alicante (19-15). Burgos SP defeated Alicante 83-73. Castello managed to escape with a 3-point win 92-89 in the game for the fourteenth place. Viny Okouo fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Brandon Tabb produced 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Castello moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with defeated Cantabria. Cantabria lost fourth consecutive game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 34: bottom-ranked Clavijo was destroyed by Burgos T. on the opponent's court 110-76. Lleida outscored Menorca in a home game 105-70. Valladolid was rolled over Fuenlabrada on the road 85-58. Ourense was defeated by Gipuzkoa on its own court 76-87. Estudiantes beat Oviedo in Madrid 75-61. Real Betis won against Caceres at home 80-62.




Alicante - Burgos SP 73-83

The game in Alicante was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Burgos SP (26-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Alicante (19-15). Burgos SP defeated Alicante 83-73. Burgos SP players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The teams were tied at 21 after ten minutes. But Estudiantes surged ahead in the second frame. They grabbed a 42-38 halftime advantage. Coruna limited their opponents to just 11 points in the third term to eke out a one-point lead at the final break. Estudiantes unloaded 27 points in the fourth stanza and managed to get away with the victory at the end. Toms Leimanis (190-PG-1994) tossed in 15 points for Estudiantes. Goran Huskic (210-C-1992, college: Howard Col., TX) answered with 20 points for Coruna. Alejandro Galan (207-F/C-1999) and Sebastian Petersen (189-G-1995) netted 11 points apiece in the loss.
