Rio Breogan Stun Real Madrid in Pedro Martinez's Debut, 110-102

Rio Breogan kept their good early-preseason form going, holding off a spirited Real Madrid fightback to win 110-102 in the second edition of the "Dream Game" friendly at Pontevedra's municipal pavilion on Saturday, in front of around 2,500 fans. It was also a night to forget for Pedro Martinez, whose first game in charge of Real Madrid ended in defeat.
Breogan set the early pace, winning the first two quarters 26-22 and 25-24 to take a five-point cushion into the break, but Real Madrid hit back hard in the third, outscoring the hosts 33-27 to actually edge in front, 79-78, heading into the fourth. Breogan had the last word, though, closing out the game on a 32-23 run in the final period to seal an eight-point win.
Francis Alonso (191-SG-1996, college: UNCG) led the way for Breogan with 20 points, with Victor Arteaga (212-C-1992) and Josep Peris (192-G-2000) both adding 19 and Bolton and Aranitovic chipping in 13 and 12 respectively. Real Madrid got a promising return from Walter Tavares (220-C-1992), back after four months out with a knee injury sustained in April, who finished with 17 points and 4 rebounds, while Chuma Okeke (202-F-1998, college: Auburn) led the visitors' scoring with 18. Gabriele Procida (198-SG-2002) added 16 and Theo Maledon (192-G-2001) 15, and Real Madrid playing at pace throughout, with 15 fast-break points by halftime alone also got a productive cameo from Olivier Sarr (210-C-1999, college: Kentucky), who managed 6 points and 9 rebounds in just 12 minutes.
