Serious injuries in Málaga and Manresa

Alberto Diaz (190-G-1994) is sidelined for two months, while Hugo Benitez (192-PG-2001) underwent surgery and has no return date.

Two months without Díaz

Unicaja Málaga's injury woes have deepened, with Alberto Diaz set to miss the next two months of competition. The Spanish international suffered a muscle injury in his left leg during the ACB season opener against Real Madrid. The player realized he had a serious issue while still on the court during the third quarter. After the game, coach Txus Vidorreta remarked, "The main takeaway from the match is Alberto's injury, because it took a lot away from us defensively."

Following a re-evaluation at the Málaga hospital, initial projections indicate an absence of around eight weeks. Díaz thus joins Kalinoski, Nzosa, and Tyson Pérez on the injury list. The team has signed Matt Thomas on a short-term deal to bolster the roster and is still looking for another player for the frontcourt.

Benítez undergoes surgery for pneumothorax

A heavy blow to the chest during the match against Bilbao landed Hugo Benitez in the operating room. Following surgery, the French player has no set date for his return to action. The Manresa squad is grappling with issues that also sidelined Timmy Allen and Pierre Oriola for the first round of the ACB, all while preparing to kick off their EuroCup campaign against PAOK Thessaloniki.
