Primera FEB Regular Season is still in too early stage and there may be still significant changes in the standings. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Zunder Palencia (3-1) in Madrid on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Estudiantes (4-0) 86-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zunder Palencia. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Dominican guard Omar Silverio (190-1998, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and French guard Leo Westermann (198-1992, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) who added 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Canadian-Croatian power forward Josip Vrankic (205-1998, college: Santa Clara) responded with 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Estudiantes keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Alicante and Cantabria. Palencia at the other side keeps the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Gran Canaria and Palma BM. Estudiantes is looking forward to face Palma Fibwi (#14) in S'Arenal in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Palencia will play at home against Ourense (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Palma Fibwi has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Menorca, where they defeated Menorca (0-4) 72-67. The winners were led by Serbian forward Djordje Simeunovic (201-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Adria Moncanut supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds by American power forward Wildens Leveque (211-2000, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Menorca. Menorca's coach Javier Zamora tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Palma Fibwi (1-3) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Zamora and Gipuzkoa. It was Menorca's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Burgos and Fuenlabrada. Menorca will play on the road against Fuenlabrada (#17) in Madrid and hopes to get finally their first victory.
