Big Changes In Store At Riders- October 11, 2025
POSTED BY: Jeff King
The Leicester Riders have responded to their poor start to the SLB season by releasing two players from their roster. American guard Mike Mitchell Jr. (188-G-2002, college: Minnesota) and British qualified power forward Duke Shelton (207-C/F-1995, college: Tampa) have had their contracts cancelled and have left the Club.
Riders have started with four defeats from four and rookie professional Mitchell had only averaged 3.5 points per game over his first appearances as a professional. Shelton a spark from the bench last season when Leicester won the Playoff title had moved into the starting five for this campaign. But after discussions both The Club and he decided to end is 2+ years with Riders and go in a different direction and he like Mitchell is now looking for another Club. Leicester's next game in The SLB will be at home in The Mattioli Arena next Friday night against arch-rivals Newcastle Eagles. Riders Head Coach Rob Paternostro will be hoping to have replacements in the building to fill the gaps created by the departures announced. |
