Regular Season Round 5: Perry Lakes H. - Stirling S. 94-100

There was an upset in Floreat where higher ranked Hawks (3-2) were defeated by tenth ranked Stirling S. (4-2) 100-94 on Saturday. Stirling S. forced 22 Hawks turnovers. Strangely Hawks outrebounded Stirling S. 65-41 including a 30-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kyle Lindbergh (201-91, college: Dordt, agency: Warren Sports International) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Jayden Coburn (191) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lindbergh is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international forward Ben Purser (201-90, college: Augusta) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stirling S. moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Hawks keep the sixth position with two games lost. Stirling S. will face Redbacks (#11) in Northbridge in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hawks will play on the road against Wanneroo (#5) in Joondalup and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
