Regular Season Round 9: Southern T. - W.Adelaide B. 95-82

There was no surprise in Morphett Vale where 6th ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (2-3) were defeated by third ranked Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (4-1) 95-82 on Saturday. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-92, college: Boise St.) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and American forward Mike Nwelue (196-93, college: Drury) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Noarlunga City Southern Tigers players scored in double figures. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Dee Oldham (193-94, college: Chattanooga) with 40 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import forward Harold Ridgeway (203, college: Midland) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers maintains third place in League with 4-1 record having 3 victories less than leader Sydney Comets. Loser West Adelaide Bearcats dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers will face Norwood Flames (#7) in Marden in the next round. West Adelaide Bearcats will play on the road against South Adelaide Panthers in Park Holme and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
