Regular Season Round 15: Al-Hala - Samaheej 99-67

Bottom-ranked Samaheej (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-67 loss to sixth ranked Al-Hala (9-5) in Muharraq on Tuesday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Samaheej's 48. They outrebounded Samaheej 54-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al-Hala looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Samaheej's players. The best player for the winners was American-Lebanese center Loren Woods (218-78, college: Arizona) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Jordanian Ahmed Jamal (-87) chipped in 31 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Mohammed Busafwan who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and Jassim Mohamed added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Samaheej players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Hala moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al-Najma. Samaheej at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Al-Hala is looking forward to face higher ranked Al-Nweidrat (#4) in Nuwaidrat in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Samaheej will play at home against the league's second-placed Al-Manama (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
