Second Stage Round 15: Gomel - Victoria 72-59

No shocking result in a game when first rankedGomel (15-7) beat at home 3rd placed Victoria (9-13) 72-59 on Sunday. Gomel outrebounded Victoria 64-40 including a 30-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gomel looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Ilona Katsyro (171-2005) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Swingman Yana Paraschenko (180-2005) accounted for 22 points and 4 steals for the winning side. Swingman Alexandra Shulga (177-2010) came up with 17 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Ulyana Paley (183-2009) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Victoria in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Gomel have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-7 record. Loser Victoria keeps the third position with 13 games lost. Gomel will meet at home league's second-placed Brest in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Victoria will play against Gomel 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
