The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Flamengo as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Flamengo defeated their biggest opponent Paschoalotto/Bauru in Rio de Janeiro 85-69. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Flamengo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Joao Paulo Batista (205-81, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92) who added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. At the losing side international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) responded with 16 points and the former international center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86) scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo (12-3) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Paschoalotto/Bauru at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play next round against Macae trying to get back on the winning streak. Flamengo will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Vivo/Franca in Sao Paulo.
