Very expected game when 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (6-11) was smashed by seventh ranked Pinheiros (9-8) in Sao Paolo 104-65 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Pinheiros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Pinheiros outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 39-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Renan Lenz (206-90, college: Utah) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Bruno Ferreira (203-89, college: Indian Hills CC) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Sao Jose/Vinac. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros maintains seventh position with 9-8 record, which they share with Franca. Sao Jose/Vinac lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Pinheiros will face higher ranked Mogi (#6) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sao Jose/Vinac will play on the road against Caxias do Sul (#14) and hope to win that game.
