Regular Season Round 23: Pinheiros - Paulistano 80-84

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paolo: Paulistano (#3) and Pinheiros (#8). Pinheiros was defeated at home 80-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. Pinheiros was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-15 charge of Paulistano, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Lucas Dias Silva (209-95) produced 28 points and American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Despite that victory Paulistano went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Brasilia. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 11 games lost. Paulistano is looking forward to face Minas (#10) in Belo Horizonte in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pinheiros will play at home against Macae and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
