Regular Season Round 4: America - Franca 84-99
Date: August 7, 2016
Bottom-ranked America (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-84 loss to third ranked Vivo/Franca (4-1) in Rio Preto on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-84. Vivo/Franca made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Pedro Lima (191-87) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) who added 17 points during the contest. Five Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Dave Boykin (196-88, college: Bridgeport) responded with 25 points and his fellow American import Randon Dyer (196-87) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vivo/Franca have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser America still closes the standings with four games lost. Vivo/Franca will meet at home Pinheiros (#5) in the next round. America will play against Pinheiros (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
