Regular Season Round 15: Pinheiros - L.Sorocaba 81-69

Second ranked Pinheiros (12-3) beat at home 9th ranked Liga Sorocaba (3-12) by 12 points 81-69, which is the biggest margin this round. It looked good early as Liga Sorocaba took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pinheiros had a 27-17 second period charge getting the lead and Liga Sorocaba was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-81. It was a good game for American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. American point guard Broderick Gilchrest (182-89, college: Idaho St.) answered with 34 points (!!!) and Romulo Vieira (193-92) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Liga Sorocaba. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Mogi lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Liga Sorocaba lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Pinheiros' next round opponent will be Rio Claro (#6) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Liga Sorocaba will play against Paulistano and hope to win that game.
