Regular Season Round 9: Pinheiros - Paulistano 77-92

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paolo: Paulistano (#7) and Pinheiros (#3). Pinheiros was defeated at home 77-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. Paulistano made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Paulistano especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Pinheiros was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for point guard George Lucas (195-96) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) contributed with 20 points for the winners. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) answered with 14 points and forward Renan Lenz (206-90, college: Utah) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pinheiros. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
