Regular Season Round 9: Sampaio - Blumenau 75-60

Rather expected game in Sampaio Basquete where 6th ranked Blumenau (3-15) was defeated by fourth ranked Sampaio (8-10) 75-60. The game was mostly controlled by Sampaio. Blumenau was better in second period 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for international swingman Patty Ribeiro (176-90) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Vitoria Marcelino contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international center Fernanda Bibiano (193-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Leila Zabani (181-91) added 26 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Blumenau. Blumenau's coach Joao Almeida rotated eleven players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 8-10 record. Blumenau lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Sampaio's next round opponent will be league's leader Corinthians/Americana in Vila Medon and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blumenau will play at home against Pres.Valceslau (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
