Regular Season Round 7: Franca - Pinheiros 95-83

An interesting game for Vivo/Franca (9-1) which hosted in Sao Paulo 4th placed Pinheiros (6-5). First ranked Vivo/Franca managed to get a 12-point victory 95-83. The game was mostly controlled by Vivo/Franca. Pinheiros was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Pinheiros was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Antonio Ferreira (200-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. The former international Luis Felipe Gruber (206-85) helped adding 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the losing side Jonatan de-Oliveira responded with 16 points and forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vivo/Franca maintains first place with 9-1 record. Pinheiros lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Bauru. Vivo/Franca will play against league's second-placed Mogi in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pinheiros will play at home against Osasco B. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
