Regular Season Round 20: Puente Alto - CDU Catolica 89-90
Date: December 13, 2014
Eleventh-ranked Puente Alto (2-17) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Universidad Catolica (9-10). The visitors from Santiago managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by American forward John Dickson (198-90, college: Sacramento St.) who scored that evening 32 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and Argentinian-Italian power forward Franco Prelazzi (205-79) supported him with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Four Universidad Catolica players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds by American center Dazmond Starke (201-90, college: Ky Wesleyan) did not help to save the game for Puente Alto. His fellow American import forward Donovan Johnson (201-92, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 19 points and 15 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Universidad Catolica have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 9-10 record. Puente Alto lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Universidad Catolica's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Colo Colo.
