Regular Season Round 7: Puente Alto - CDU Concepcion 84-102

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Puente Alto's (2-5) home loss to sixth ranked Universidad de Concepcion (2-3) 84-102 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Universidad de Concepcion. Puente Alto was better in third quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Universidad de Concepcion dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Puente Alto's 48. Universidad de Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American center Paul Harrison (203-89, college: N.Greenville) fired a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for the winners. Guard Carlos Lauler (185-96) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Universidad de Concepcion's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jovany Austin (201-92, college: W.Georgia) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import swingman Marcus Hammonds (196-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Five Universidad de Concepcion and four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Universidad de Concepcion maintains sixth place with 2-3 record. Puente Alto lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Universidad de Concepcion will face league's leader Los Leones in Quilpue in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will play at home against Puerto Montt (#12) and hope to win that game.
