The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Pinar's (7-12) road loss to fifth ranked Guantanamo (8-10) 60-64 on Friday. Guantanamo outrebounded Pinar 29-18 including 19 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Yoannis Soria (195-86) stepped up and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Guantanamo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) with 22 points and 4 steals and Jaciel Martinez (190-91) scored 12 points. Pinar's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Guantanamo moved-up to fourth place. Pinar lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Artemisa. Guantanamo will again meet at home Pinar (#6) in the next round. Pinar will have a break next round.
