Rather expected game in Nicosia where 8th ranked Achilleas K. (3-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Anorthosis (5-4) 83-79. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-7. But Achilleas K. won second period 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anorthosis dominated on the defensive end, holding Achilleas K. to just 7 points in first quarter. Achilleas K. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Georgian Duda Sanadze (197-1992, college: San Diego) notched 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American forward Pauly Paulicap (203-1997, college: WVU) supported him with 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds by American Lenell Henry (203-1998, college: Alcorn St.) did not help to save the game for Achilleas K.. His fellow American import point guard RJ Glasper (183-1998, college: UIW) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Four Achilleas K. players scored in double figures. Anorthosis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Apollon. Achilleas K. at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Anorthosis will play against Etha (#7) in Nicosia in the next round. Achilleas K. will play at home against Omonia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
