Date: May 28, 2017
Metros STGO defeated Huracanes PP in Santiago 89-77. The game was mostly controlled by Metros STGO. Huracanes PP managed to win third quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Metros STGO dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Huracanes PP's 34. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metros STGO made 11 blocks. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. His fellow American import Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) chipped in 26 points. Nigerian-Jamaican swingman Weyinmi Rose (196-86, college: Providence) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Luis Jacobo (196-91, college: IPFW, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Metros STGO and four Huracanes PP players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huracanes PP will play next round against strong Indios SFM trying to get back on the winning streak. Metros STGO will try to continue on its current victory against Reales LV in La Vega.
