Regular Season Round 7: Valga - Tarvas 89-106

Valga (#4) was upset in Valga by seventh ranked BC Rakvere 106-89. It looked good early as Valga took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Rakvere had a 32-20 second period charge getting the lead and Valga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-106. BC Rakvere dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Valga's 32. They outrebounded Valga 44-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. BC Rakvere players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Timo Eichfuss (200-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Latvian Arturs Bricis (196-92, agency: Dynamics Global Management) came up with 18 points and 4 assists and Latvian Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Valga in the defeat. Five BC Rakvere and four Valga players scored in double figures. Valga's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. BC Rakvere (3-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Parnu. Valga at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. BC Rakvere will play against league's leader TU/Rock in Tartu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valga will have a break next round.
