Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Catz Lappeenranta (4-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Peli-Karhut (2-4) 72-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Catz Lappeenranta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American Chandrea Jones (177-87, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Russia forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) produced 11 points and 9 rebounds and Saara Wahlgren (174-92) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kouvot. Loser Peli-Karhut keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will meet bottom-ranked Helmi Basket (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Peli-Karhut will play against the league's second-placed Espoo Utd and hope to secure a win.
