Regular Season Round 14: PeU-Basket - HyPo 83-84

No shocking result in a game in Pernio where seventh ranked HyPo (7-6) edged 10th ranked PeU-Basket (4-11) 84-83 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But PeU-Basket won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PeU-Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard De'Andre Upchurch (188-91, college: Tarleton St.) who had a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Riku Lempio (197-90) chipped in 10 points. American forward Tiel Daniels (200-92, college: Colorado St.) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds and forward Riku Laine (197-97) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four PeU-Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. HyPo maintains seventh position in Division with 7-6 record. Loser PeU-Basket dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. HyPo will face higher ranked Espoo Basket (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. PeU-Basket will play against Namika Lr (#13) in Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
