Regular Season Round 16: Munkkiniemen - PuHu Juniorit 59-87

Everything went according to plan in Helsinki where second ranked PuHu Juniorit (13-4) outscored 12th ranked Munkkiniemen (4-13) 87-59 on Tuesday. The game without a history. PuHu Juniorit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Munkkiniemen's 32. PuHu Juniorit looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Munkkiniemen's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Pyry Rainamaa (194-90) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Sakari Salminen (200-87) who added 18 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Pyry Marttinen (184-99) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Tuomo Antikainen (185-99) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. PuHu Juniorit maintains second position in Division with 13-4 record behind leader TuNMKY. Newly promoted Munkkiniemen keeps the twelfth place with 13 games lost. PuHu Juniorit will face PeU-Basket (#10) in Pernio in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Munkkiniemen will play at home against JyWe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
