Regular Season Round 26: Pyrinto - Helsinki Seagulls 88-71

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Helsinki Seagulls (18-5) on the court of eighth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Tampereen Pyrinto 88-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Helsinki Seagulls. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Helsinki Seagulls managed to win fourth quarter 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tampereen Pyrinto had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Topias Palmi (194-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St., agency: SDJ Sports) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. The former international Carl Lindbom (206-91) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Antti Niskanen (188-86) added 13 points in the effort for Helsinki Seagulls. Tampereen Pyrinto (9-15) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BC Nokia. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto is looking forward to face KTP-Basket (#9) in Kotka in the next round. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round.
