Very important is a road loss of third ranked Joensuun Kataja (14-7) against fourth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (14-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Joensuun Kataja was defeated by Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki 99-87. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. It looked good early as Joensuun Kataja took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kauhajoen Karhu took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Joensuun Kataja's 32 and made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Joensuun Kataja 41-19 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Kammeon Holsey (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. American Rion Brown (198-91, college: Miami, FL) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) scored 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Kauhajoen Karhu and five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu maintains fourth position with 14-10 record. Joensuun Kataja at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against bottom-ranked UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki in the next round where they are favorite. Joensuun Kataja will play at home against the league's second-placed Salon Vilpas (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
