Regular Season Round 7: ToPo - Kouvot 74-81

Kouvottaret 's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Helsinki, where they defeated ToPo (1-5) 81-74 on Wednesday. Kouvot made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Strangely ToPo outrebounded Kouvot 49-33 including a 22-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Tayanna Jones (185-2000, college: Colorado) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Raiana Brown (183-2001, college: Fairfield) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Kouvottaret players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Sarah Gates (177-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Lauren Heard (175-1999, college: TCU) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for ToPo in the defeat. Kouvottaret left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with defeated ToPo.
