There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (16-17) beat on the road higher ranked JA Vichy (16-16) 91-77 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American point guard Austen Rowland (186-81, college: Lehigh, agency: Inception Sports) who scored 31 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. SO Maritime Boulogne's coach Germain Castano allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP, agency: HMS) produced 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. SO Maritime Boulogne moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with St Quentin. Newly promoted JA Vichy keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face Denain Voltaire (#14) at home in the next round.
