Regular Season Round 16: SAP Vaucluse - Challans 58-78

Date: December 17, 2016
Everything could happen in Sorgues at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Vendee Challans and 17th ranked SAP Vaucluse had identical 5-10 record. But SAP Vaucluse was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Challans 78-58 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Vendee Challans. SAP Vaucluse was better in third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SAP Vaucluse to just 5 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Jason Jones (202-86, college: Northeastern St.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach Philippe Namyst used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Rafael Lopez (204-86) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Daye Kaba (191-86, college: Marist) scored 15 points. Vendee Challans (6-10) moved-up to fifteenth place. SAP Vaucluse lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Vendee Challans will face higher ranked Saint Vallier (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SAP Vaucluse will play against Rueil (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
