Regular Season Round 19: Gries/Oberhoffen - Lourdes 93-60

There was an upset when higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (10-9) was outscored by seventeenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (7-11) in Bischwiller 93-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-60. Gries/Oberhoffen outrebounded Lourdes-Tarbes 41-23 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Lourdes-Tarbes' players. Quite impressive performance for American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Gries/Oberhoffen players scored in double figures. Gries/Oberhoffen's coach Ludovic Pouillart felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized American guard Jourdan Demuynck (198-90, college: Prairie View A&M, agency: HMS) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Florian Lesca (198-89) added 10 points in the effort for Lourdes-Tarbes. Gries/Oberhoffen moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Gries/Oberhoffen will face higher ranked GET Vosges (#5) in Golbey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
