Regular Season Round 29: Quimper - Souffel 80-52

An interesting game for Quimper UJAP (21-8) which hosted in Quimper 3rd placed Souffelweyersheim (19-10). Second ranked Quimper UJAP had an easy win 80-52. The game was mostly controlled by Quimper UJAP. Souffelweyersheim was better in fourth quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Souffelweyersheim to just 7 points in first quarter. Quimper UJAP made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Souffelweyersheim 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. Quimper UJAP players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Souffelweyersheim was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Maxime Choplin (181-92) stepped up and scored 14 points and 9 assists for the winners and Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) chipped in 15 points. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Quimper UJAP's coach Laurent Foirest felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) responded with 15 points and Senegalese forward Elson Mendy (200-85) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Quimper UJAP maintains second place with 21-8 record behind leader Caen. Souffelweyersheim at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. Quimper UJAP will play against league's leader Caen on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Souffelweyersheim will play against Vendee Challans and hopes to get back on the winning track.
