Regular Season Round 29: GET Vosges - Caen 72-69

Date: March 18, 2017
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Caen (22-7) in Golbey on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked GET Vosges (17-12) 72-69. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Caen. Caen was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of GET Vosges, which allowed them to win the game. GET Vosges outrebounded Caen 40-23 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when GET Vosges made 8 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Caen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Kyle Tresnak (208-92, college: Weber St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Malcolm Gountas (189-94) contributed with 11 points for the winners. American-Cape Verdean swingman BJ Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) answered with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Lithuanian forward Justas Sinica (203-85) added 14 points in the effort for Caen. Four Caen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. GET Vosges maintains fifth place with 17-12 record, which they share with Lourdes. Caen at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. GET Vosges is looking forward to face UB Chartres (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Caen will play against the league's second-placed Quimper UJAP (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
