Regular Season Round 7: Nantes - Le Havre 63-58

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked STB Le Havre (2-4) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Nantes (3-4) 63-58 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-13. But STB Le Havre won second period 16-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely STB Le Havre outrebounded Nantes 47-34 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Nantes made 7 blocks. American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American-German center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. American-Swedish point guard Omar Krayem (186-88, college: Cal.Baptist) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Algerian point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Nantes moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Rouen. Loser STB Le Havre dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Nantes will face league's second-placed Lille Metropole on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. STB Le Havre will play against JA Vichy (#8) and hope to win that game.
