Regular Season Round 8: SIG - Monaco 88-86

A very close game took place in llkirch-Graff between SIG and Monaco. Seventh ranked SIG (4-4) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Monaco (3-5). SIG managed to escape with a 2-point win 88-86 on Saturday evening. SIG made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Camille Lenglet who scored that evening 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Axelle Mikorek (175-2002) supported her with 24 points and 6 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Even 27 points by forward Maud Stervinou (178-1997) did not help to save the game for Monaco. Italian center Martina Bestagno (189-1990) added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SIG have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Monaco dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. SIG will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Monaco will play against Aulnoye (#4) and hope to secure a win.
