There was an upset when higher rankedDenain Voltaire (12-8) was edged at home by tenth ranked Poitiers (11-9) 86-83 on Friday. Strangely Denain-Voltaire outrebounded Poitiers 47-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Marcus Hammond (191-2000, college: Notre Dame) who scored that evening 19 points and center Narcisse Ngoy (215-2004) supported him with 9 points and 14 rebounds. Poitiers' coach Andy Thornton-Jones used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by guard Romain Parmentelot (190-2004) did not help to save the game for Denain-Voltaire . Vincentian-Canadian Lien Phillip (203-1989, college: Windsor) added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Poitiers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Denain Voltaire keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hyeres-Toulon and Vichy.
