Regular Season Round 19: Nice - SIG 77-71

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Nice (7-12) won against at home 10th ranked SIG (8-11) 77-71 on Saturday. Nice forced 19 SIG turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Fabienne Constant (188-1986) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Lena Timera (178-1994) accounted for 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Nathalie Desset (-2005) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Marguerite Effa (190-1997, college: Nevada) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for SIG in the defeat. Four SIG players scored in double figures. Nice maintains twelfth place with 7-12 record. Loser SIG keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bihorel. Nice will meet league's second-placed La Tronche on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SIG will have a break next round.
