Regular Season Round 21: Kutaisi - Dinamo Tbilisi 82-78

Round 21 in Superleague means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kutaisi where host Kutaisi (13-8) beat league's leader Dinamo Tbilisi (13-8) 82-78 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Dinamo Tbilisi was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 25-17 charge of Kutaisi, which allowed them to win the game. Kutaisi outrebounded Dinamo Tbilisi 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Dinamo Tbilisi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international Beka Bekauri (207-91) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashaev (188-83) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) who recorded 19 points and 5 assists and the former international Mikheil Berishvili (204-87) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kutaisi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi and Batumi. Dinamo Tbilisi will play next round against strong Batumi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kutaisi will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Mgzavrebi in Tbilisi.
