Regular Season Round 18: Mgzavrebi - Dinamo Tbilisi 80-77

The most surprising game was the first loss of Dinamo Tbilisi (17-1) on the court of eighth ranked Mgzavrebi on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Mgzavrebi 80-77. It ended at the same time the 17-game winning streak of Dinamo Tbilisi. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. Mgzavrebi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Corey Allen (185-92, college: S.Florida) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Deonta Vaughn (185-86, college: Cincinnati, agency: Interperformances) replied with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Dinamo Tbilisi. Five Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Dinamo Tbilisi's coach Irakli Khoshtaria rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mgzavrebi maintains eighth position with 4-14 record. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. Mgzavrebi are looking forward to face higher ranked Energy Invest (#3) in Rustavi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Cactus Tbilisi.
