Regular Season Round 7: TSU - Amra Gagra 79-77

Seventh-rankedAmra Gagra (2-4) gave a tough game to leader TSU (7-0) in Tbilisi on Wednesday. TSU managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77 . However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Amra Gagra won third quarter 22-19 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when TSU won last quarter 20-19 . They made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game, while Amra Gagra only scored eight points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Amra Gagra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Nikoloz Gaprindashvili (200-2002) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998) helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side the former international point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-2000, college: UMass Lowell) responded with 40 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Canadian forward Emmanuel Ansah (198, college: Guelph) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. TSU have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Amra Gagra at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with RASHI and Kavkasia.
