Regular Season Round 16: VSA - TSU 103-81

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi:VSA (#2) and TSU (#3). VSA (9-5) smashed visiting TSU (8-7) by 22 points 103-81 . The game was mostly controlled by VSA. TSU managed to win fourth quarter 24-22 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VSA dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to TSU 's 34. They outrebounded TSU 37-21 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. VSA looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Xavier Hill-Mais (202-1996, college: Oakland) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds and forward Anzori Nadiradze (202-2001, agency: BIG) who added 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. VSA's coach Davit Nozadze felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international point guard Otar Pkhakadze (188-1993, college: Simpson, CA) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and American forward Davontrey Thomas (196, college: New Haven) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Five VSA and four TSU players scored in double figures. Newly promoted VSA maintains second position with 9-5 record behind leader Kutaisi. TSU lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Margveti. VSA are looking forward to face Delta (#8) in Gurjaani in the next round where they are favorite. TSU will play at home against Batumi (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
