Very significant was TSU's (#2) just 3-point road victory against one of their biggest challengersMargveti . It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Margveti. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Margveti took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then TSU had a 34-23 second period charge getting the lead and Margveti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 98-101. TSU dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Margveti 's 34. TSU players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Aleksandre Phevadze (207-1998) who scored that evening 28 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Beka Bekauri (209-1991, agency: BIG) supported him with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Even 22 points by American guard DJ Davis (186-2001, college: Washington, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Margveti . International guard Sandro Sanadze (190-1995) added 14 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Margveti's coach Irakli Dzidziguri rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TSU (8-3) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with VSA. Margveti at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Kutaisi.
